Investigating Kartoo
One of today’s email news items referenced the search engine Kartoo.
This search engine is unique in the way it presents the results. The main portion of the screen is a graphic organizer showing how the resulting sites are interrelated. Using the list of topics on the left it is possible to modify the search by adding or removing the topic from the search.
One of the aspects of this search engine that I found appealing for education is the fact that it limits the results. In the few searches that I performed, I found that the resulting sites were for encyclopedias, museums, archives and other quality sites.
